When I found out about Mamegoma I literally squealed. I'm such a girl. It's my first time doing an oceanic aquatic art something digitally. I tried to do it once with markers, and that was a good year ago, and it was terrible. So there are things wrong with this one, I'm sure, but right now I'm pretty happy with it! I had tons of fun experimenting with this... It's good to know that I'm still learning. Well, at least for me, it's reassuring. Yes. Let it be known that no filters or color balancing were abused in the process of making this picture. Afterall, you can't color balance or filter traditional artwork, right? Right. Speaking of, I should probably start doing some of that more..... Oh well! The novelty of having a tablet hasn't worn off yet, and I doubt it will anytime soon. I want to try Ewoks next... I love Ewoks!

Pencil guides thrown out of the window as I went along, Photoshop, and Painter for the plants... I'm not sure what kind of plants they are, but they're the type that are in my frog's (James') tank.

I'm glad you approve!
The seaweed plant thingers were pretty easy to do. The stalks were done with Painter airbrush, and the fluffy bristley leave parts were done with Oils > Round Camelhair brush, 100% Opacity, Resaturation, Bleed, aaaaaaaand 9.0 - 9.5 FEATURE. That's the most important part, the feature. I tried it on a lower feature, but it didn't look right...so each of those leaves are individual strokes, some built-up more than others. What helped the most, to be honest, was the fact that I have a tablet. I wouldn't have been able to do it well enough, or quick enough, with the mouse. >_<
Then, in Photoshop, I "burned" the seaweed layer to make some parts extremely dark for shadow... Then, I used the brush... 10-20% opacity, light seafoam green color, for the light hitting it. My color palette was pretty basic. I just kept the opacity of the brush low so I could layer the colors properly for the blue tones, as well as the highlights and shadows, without having to color balance the hell out of everything.
...That was long-winded, and I don't know if you even WANTED an answer like that... SORRY...!
