Artist's Comments

My sister's birthday was two days ago.

I have to keep reminding myself not to get "grandiose ideas" with only a day in advance to work with said ideas. But then again, as some of you may already know, I have this really bad tendency to make a lot of the stuff up as I go along...

So here's what we know:

My sister loves the hell out of Star Wars. She loves the hell out of Admiral Ackbar and Mon Calamari peoples. She has quite a collection of vintage Ackbar figures, along with new Mon Calamari warrior figures. I bought her the Gentle Giant bust of Ackbar on her birthday when we went to the comic store.

So, in any case, I did a cute-dumb-shit image of Admiral Ackbar TO THE MAXXX.

Also depicted: My sister as Mamegoma-like Pink Seal (atop of said Admiral's head), including love bubbles.

As well as: Ben Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Shaak Ti, Aayla Secura, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Han Solo (carbonite'd), Boba Fett, Jabba the Sea Slug--er, Hutt (with octopus-type snack), Stormtroopers, Emperor Palpatine (the electric eel), Imperial Royal guards, and Dark Vader atop the DEATH BUBBLE.

I added in TIE fighters (with swordfish-like noses) because I absolutely love the way my sister sketches TIE fighters. They have like...maximum, 6 contour lines. She draws better than I do.

I've never been so challenged with a painting in my life. It was fun, to say the least.

HAPPY (late) BIRTHDAY, SPOOPY!

It's.... it's so cute... I'm sure your sister will love it, especially with all the work you put into it. :D

fff- she should love it. I wish I had a brother that cared enough to do something like this for my birthday. You did a fantastic job <3

My sister and I are really something like best friends, if that makes any sense. I know there's all sorts of horror stories that I've heard about siblings being really terrible to one other, for whatever reason. With her and I, that simply never was the case. I was really happy to do this for her. :)

By the way, I think she likes it; the print-out I did is pinned up on her wall above her mon calamari figures. Haha!

She saw the work in progress on her birthday, so she seemed really excited about it then. I gave her a print-out version of this today, and she has it pinned up on her wall above her mon calamari figures... So, I'm taking this as a good sign!

Thanks for the feedback. ;)

your seals will be the death of me. In such a good way. What an amazing idea- and you worked it out so well, and so fantastically rendered, too!

Thank youuu! I'm trying really, really hard to fine-tune my paintings so that foreground/background objects and whatnot are discernible, and not blurring into a flat-looking painting. It'll also help me when and if I actually get around to making print-worthy pieces, too. I don't want a blurry-looking print. :(
